My name is Aja Miller. I grew up in a small, rural town in Pennsylvania. I consider myself lucky because I get to live on a farm , enjoy the country scenery, animals and all the things that inspire me.
I started creating art before I could remember. I would roam my farm and gather random objects to make collages.
As a child, I could never color in the lines. Coloring books were anathema to me. I almost didn't make it to kindergarten because instead of completing the kindergarten readiness test, I drew all over it.
I consider myself unique and my art is just the same. I have never wanted to follow the work of anyone else. However, Jackson Pollock has been a great influence on my work.
Where one sees grass, I see a multitude of hues of green and just need to express that in painting. Color: the boldness, the asymmetry, the passion.
Acrylic and pebeo are my favorite mediums , although lately, I have been exploring watercolor, chalk, ink, and house paint. Sometimes when I find paint brushes too confining, I will use a variety of household objects to create and blend, including my hands. I love to listen to music and paint whatever comes to mind. I feel I express myself best through my art and I hope others enjoy my work.
